Before your mobile phone is turned over for recycling, do remember to wipe off all your personal data.
With plenty of data that mobile phones these days carry, we tend to leave notes in our cell phone, text messages and email records apart from contact numbers and addresses of our family members and friends. Most of this data, unfortunately, is not wiped off by majority of the UK citizens before they mail their phones for recycling through online companies. These phones, if in the wrong hands, could be used as means for various scams. Calls could be received by people in your address book from unknown people, acting as if it is you, to retrieve valuable personal information. Such information could be misused apart from the fact that credit card and bank account details could also be stolen.
The officials have issued a warning to all individuals in the UK pertaining to cell phone recycling. The citizens have been told to erase all their personal data before they turn in their phones for recycling. They should seek assistance from their mobile phone provider if they are unable to do so themselves and even keeping an eye on while this is being done. You would definitely want to ensure that data is not only deleted from the phone, but from all other possible places too. It is indeed a simple process. Remove all data from the SIM card and dispose off the removable SIM cards properly not leaving for any scope of theft or misuse.
